ABOUT THE PROJECT

I provided creative leadership for this AR project, driving the development of an immersive experience for Magic Leap. The project's focal point was to showcase the alarming deterioration of our coral reefs and propose strategies for restoring these once-vibrant ecosystems to their former splendor. The project was subject to an exceptionally tight deadline, necessitating a high level of synergy among all disciplines to ensure timely delivery. Certain development aspects have been omitted from this project summary.

Exploring the reefs

Before embarking on this project, all collaborating disciplines convened to establish a shared understanding of technological and sensory constraints.

Setting the Stage

It was important to understand the tech limitations of the Magic Leap itself before introducing additional sensory elements to enhance the experience.

Following a series of thorough stress tests on the Magic Leap, we defined fundamental criteria that enabled us to proceed with implementing further improvements to the overall experience.

In order to amplify the impact of the experience, we explored ways to enrich the environment, auditory components, and incorporate scents.

After the initial meeting, I began crafting a storyboard and UX flow that would serve as a foundational guide for all disciplines involved in the project's development.

Several variations of the storyboard were created, yet one emerged as superior to the rest in terms of swiftness of implementation, feasibility, execution quality, emotional resonance, and various other factors.

All Hands on Deck!

Having comprehended the flow and their respective creative contributions, each discipline within the team promptly embarked on their tasks.

The 3D team set to work, creating all the 3D assets required for the build (sea life, corals).

The tech team set to work on creating the flow in Unity.

The sound team set to work on creating all the auditory components (ambience, interactions, voiceover).

I created interactive VFX for the build.

The sensory team undertook the creation of light projection maps and scents.

I additionally designed a Figma guide explicitly intended for use by the ambassador during the event day.

Final Delivery

The final deliverable was fun, informative and immersive.
